Introduction to Linda Murphy
Linda
decided to share her abduction encounter experiences with me after
reading my latest book. She, like many abductees who have written to
me over the years, was relieved to know that she was not alone in
remembering what I call the 'less-reported' alien beings as well as
seeing what appear to be humans wearing military uniforms during
some of her abduction experiences. In early February of 2008 Linda
sent me part of her journal, which I found fascinating to read. I
immediately realized that Linda was excellent at describing and
illustrating what she remembered during her abduction experiences.
Linda has been
married for 25 years and is currently working on her Ph.D. in
Electrical and Computer Engineering (Systems Engineering).
Previously, Linda spent several years training volunteers to become
MUFON investigators and remains active in the overall field of
Ufology. Like a lot of abductees I've met over the last two decades,
Linda has several pets in her family and has a great appreciation
and sensitivity toward all animals and nature. In our communications
with one another, Linda strikes me as a very intelligent, aware,
sensitive and honest person.
After
reading Linda's journal I was inspired to write this article, which
is based on one of her experiences that appears to have been a
military abduction or MILAB. Linda appears to have
remembered and illustrated one of the most detailed uniform patches
I have ever come across from any abductee. I wanted to
believe that these military men she recalled from this experience
were really aliens or alien-human hybrids and that this was all simply a screen memory,
but my research led me to another conclusion.
The
following is Linda's account from her journal of an abduction
experience she had in 1995:
"I was being
escorted through a large room by a person I can't see who is next to
me. This large room is filled with tables or desks and men in
military uniforms. They are all wearing khaki uniforms and there are
two men to a table. They are all facing the same direction in the
room seated at their tables. As I am walking through this room with
this other person I can't see, not one of these men looks at me.
They don't even glance in my direction."
"I am
walking down the center of the room. There are tables on both sides
of me. I don't see any windows in the room anywhere. The walls have
vertical lines. I can't say what the material is."
"I get the
sense that they were told not to look at me since no one in this
large room is even giving me a glance. The room has a sense of
seriousness in it. I don't know what these guys are doing or what
they are working on. I drew one table with two guys I remember
seeing on my right as I was walking by. The one man had glasses on.
I do remember that. They all wore arm patches."
"I remember
the arm patch they wore. Something happened after I was escorted
through the room and I remember being around several men in khaki
uniforms, which had this patch. They were doing something, but I
can't remember what. I remember seeing movement, but nothing in
detail. I do remember seeing this patch very close up to my face."
"I can't
remember if anything was depicted within the circle itself. I didn't
indicate color, but I remember the rope or braid part was gold in
color. I do remember clearly that this rope didn't go all the way
across the main circle in the patch. I thought that was odd. There
were two rows of rope and the top rope didn't start at the same
place as the other rope. I thought that was odd when I was looking
at it. Maybe that helped me remember it. I can't remember the other
colors. I didn't write them down at the time. I wish I did. I guess
I thought no one would believe it so I didn't write anything more
down about it."
In the first
paragraph of her journal entry, Linda describes terrestrial surroundings. She sees human
men wearing khaki military uniforms. Still, it's possible these
could be hybrids who look very human or just like us. She goes on to
notice that ‘The walls have vertical lines…" but very telling is her
following statement, "I can't say what the material is."
Linda
assumed she was seeing walls, but perhaps what she was really seeing
was a fabric of some sort. These ‘walls' without windows appear to
me to be partitions of some kind or possibly even vertical blinds.
It's possible there were in fact windows in this room, but they were
covered or blocked. You can even see the vertical lines in her
drawing of the walls of the room.
Her
descriptions in this encounter are very terrestrial. However, having
experienced the telepathic and 'screen memory' abilities of certain
aliens, there was more I needed to discover about this event, and I
believe the patch with the emblem on it is the key to who abducted
Linda.
Analyzing the Patch and Emblem
My research required me
to view
over 1000 patches, emblems and medals related to the various
branches of the military and government. I studied many of them over
and over again to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I visited
more Web sites than I can remember. I learned quickly that anyone
can have a 'military' patch made to say or represent almost
anything. I had to be certain that the patches and emblems I was
viewing weren't just made up for fun or for 'morale boosting' for
members of flight squadrons or other military groups.
A
break came when a Lister on Errol Bruce-Knapp's UFO Updates list
e-mailed me and told me about The United States Army's Institute of Heraldry. After
visiting the Web site, I realized that I had seen many of the
patches and emblems before, but this was by far the most complete
and clearest representation of military patches I had come across to
date. After two months of searching, I was able to decipher most of
the symbolism depicted in the patch that Linda saw in 1995 during
her abduction encounter. The following is my
analysis of the patch/emblem that Linda saw "very close up to [her]
face."
Shield
The
shape of a shield represents defense or being a defender, a champion
or a guardian.
Eagle
The
eagle represents the United States, strength, vigilance and
tenacity. The most prominent colors for eagles when used on patches
and emblems are golden, followed by yellow-brown, followed by brown,
followed by white or no color, with various colors surrounding each depiction
of an eagle.
The
wings of the Eagle (or sometimes a Crow or Hawk) represent an
airborne mission; loftiness, ‘advantage of clear observation' or
aviation in general.
Globe-Sphere-Planet
The
circle, sphere or globe represents the world, including worldwide
service as well as a ‘worldwide scope of a particular battalion's
research activities.' Grid-lined spheres are somewhat common on
patches and emblems and represent worldwide capabilities as well. I
also found references to grid-lined spheres representing the orbital
paths of our satellites. Linda did not say that she saw grid-lines
on the middle or circular portion of the patch she saw, but I
thought including this additional information might be of interest.
During my research, I also found that the most popular color for the
sphere is blue: oriental blue, teal blue or navy blue. The two
patches below are military intelligence patches. The patch on
the left shows the globe-sphere-planet in an oriental blue and the
patch on the right shows it in a teal blue.

I
found very few spheres or globes colored black, which represents
nighttime and/or stealth operations. I also discovered that when the
background of a patch is represented in black, this represents
space, as in 'outer' space. Notice that the globe-sphere-planet is
represented below in navy blue with grid-lines and the backgrounds
on these two First Space Brigade patches are black.

Lightning Bolts
If the
two pointed areas or protrusions coming off of the globe or sphere
in the middle of Linda's patch are lightning bolts, this generally
represents electronic capabilities, often specified as electronic
warfare capabilities. Lightning bolts also symbolize accuracy,
readiness, and attack capabilities in general.
If
Linda's patch depicts lightning bolts, then we see that one is
pointing upward and the other is pointing downward. I believe this
may be interpreted to indicate that specialized electronic
capabilities would extend from an airborne mission or object to the
globe-sphere-planet as well as from the globe-sphere-planet upward, ostensibly to
an airborne mission or object.
Below
are two examples of military intelligence patches depicting
lightning
bolts.

Delta Flight Symbol
The
delta flight symbol may be extracted from Linda's patch by removing
the lightning bolts from the globe-sphere-planet and viewing them
separately. If viewed this way, they become Delta symbols.
The Delta
flight symbol represents an association with space as well as ‘a
mission to exploit space-based assets.' The triangular shape also
suggests communication between satellites in space and with military
and intelligence personnel on the planet. Note the gray (left) and
red (right) Delta flight symbols in the patches below.

I
looked carefully at the circle with the two Delta shapes coming off
of Linda's globe-sphere-planet and tried to determine what this
might signify. I was unable to locate anything like this on any
patches or emblems during my search, but I was able to find a
portion of it during a symbol search. I found the following:
This
symbol represents "a sign for the sun and for gold in pre-Christian
Greece. The sun and gold were also drawn in many other ways."
I'm
not certain if this has any relationship to the patch that Linda
saw, but if we add the other delta shape to the other side of it,
this might have a specific meaning. It does resemble she shape of an
eye, but in the proportions that Linda drew the emblem, I do not
think this represents an eye. Unfortunately, I have been unable to
locate this symbol or its meaning, although it does seem very familiar to
me.
Gold
Cord or Gold Chain
I have
not found a meaning for this yet. During my search I found that
cords and chains are used as borders on patches and emblems and are
defined as such and not elaborated on. However, I believe Linda's
may represent much more since it is not used as a border.
Linda
clearly saw a doubled chain or cord draped on the right shoulder of
the eagle and above the right side of the globe-sphere-planet. This
is what actually helped her to remember the patch so well. She is
also 100% certain that it was a golden color.
During
follow-up questioning, I asked Linda about the colors again, hoping
she might have remembered more about this patch she saw. She
stated:
"I
wish I could say with certainty what the colors where. I can't
remember any of the other colors. I remember that patch being moved
in front of me and I remember the shapes. The only color I can
remember now is the gold cord…I know there were darker colors in the
patch because the gold color stood out on the patch, so the
background had to be darker. If I were to throw a color out there, I
would say a dark blue somewhere in the background. I just can't be
positive. If I were to talk in terms of hue, I would say the circle
was lighter in color, the bolt or triangles were light to medium in
color, a dark background, and the eagle, a medium color."
Significance of Colors
Certain colors are used in patches and emblems to represent specific
military groups. A broad spectrum of colors are used
in military patches and emblems so to keep this succinct I will
focus on the colors I found to be associated most often with the
designs that Linda saw on the patch.
Oriental blue is used commonly when referring to a sphere, but what
I found interesting was that the colors oriental blue and silver
gray are traditionally used by military intelligence units.
Black,
when used to represent Earth, means the patch is associated with
night and/or stealth operations. When used as a background, the
color black represents operations in space or space itself.
Lightning bolts are almost always depicted in yellow. I came across
some that were red, white, black and gray while I was viewing psyops
or psychological operations patches. In general, the meaning of
these colors is as follows: White represents Truth, gray represents
Half-truth and black represents Untruth. These colors also designate
different types of propaganda.
Nearly
all of the cords and chains I viewed on patches and emblems were the
color gold or yellow gold and were used as borders.
Even
without color added, it is clear to me that this patch and the
emblem it depicts looks very terrestrial. Using the contrasts Linda
described between the objects depicted in the patch and the most
frequent colors I found depicting these particular objects during my
search of over 1000 military and government related patches and
emblems, I came up with the following possible color combinations:

Questions
(1)
What is the likelihood that ETs have birds on their planets?
(2) If
ETs have birds on their planets, would they revere and admire
certain birds the same way humans revere birds such as the
American Bald Eagle, and use them on emblems and patches?
(3) If
ETs do have birds on their planets, then why would the birds on
their emblems be depicted the same way we depict our national symbol
with the eagle looking to its right and usually with out-stretched wings?
In my
opinion, it is too 'coincidental' that some of the aliens who are
here abducting humans have American Bald Eagles and other eagles on
their planet and depict these birds on their uniform patches as well
as positioning the birds in the same manner as humans do.
Covert Operation Patches
Would a covert operations
organization even have a patch
designating their group and its objectives? I think this is highly
probable. Every detail on nearly every patch I viewed on The
Institute of Heraldry's Web site had a specific meaning. Every
color, every shape, every object and the placement of each of these
on the patch have a special meaning: It is a complete language in
and of itself.
For a covert operation as
controversial as abducting fellow human beings - alien abductees - a
glance at a patch would speak volumes to those on the inside who
speak the same language. You would not want members of a covert
operation team to wear a particular military branch insignia or a name
badge or rank insignia. A simple patch with the correct emblem or
symbols on it could translate all of the information, at a glance,
that the other members of the team would need to know. Therefore, it makes sense
that they might design and use patches to designate a covert operation.
How long this patch has been in use
is another matter. We are all familiar with the reports of the
'circle-triangle' and the simple triangle seen on alien uniforms and
capes, but remember, Linda saw this patch in 1995, over 10 years
ago. And, as far as I know, no other abductee or researcher has gone
public with such a detailed description of a military or
extraterrestrial patch. I believe what Linda saw and illustrated is
of great importance even if this patch is no longer in use today. I
also believe that someone else out there - whether they be an
abductee, abduction researcher or current or former covert ops
personnel - has seen this patch. If you have, I urge you to contact
me.
Comfort Zone
Conclusions
Wouldn't it be nice and much more
comfortable to assume that what Linda saw and experienced was
nothing more than an alien screen memory? Many people, including
some ufologists and abduction researchers, will feel more comfortable believing
this was all an alien screen. I, however, reject this explanation.
If this were an alien screen memory
and these were aliens, why didn't they use a known military
patch? That would have been much more convincing if they were trying
to deceive Linda into thinking the military was abducting her. Also,
when she saw the military personnel sitting at their desks, they
could have deliberately shown her the soldiers' rank insignia to
further the idea that these were humans and not aliens, but they did
not do this.
Military Abduction
or MILAB
I
think it's quite possible that 'some' military group involved in a
covert operation abducted Linda, and this is where things get really
tricky. Linda does not remember the actual act of being abducted,
but she does remember whose presence she was in. From what I've
learned over the past two decades, for some of these military
abductions to
occur the way the abductee remembers them, one of two things has to
be happening: They would either have to be using ‘borrowed’ alien
technology or the military would have to be working with certain
aliens, perhaps alien-human hybrids. Some of these beings have been
described as looking very similar to humans, but they are not
completely human. And, it is also quite possible that the military
personnel Linda saw during this experience were under
some sort of alien control, either telepathic or at the very least,
a structured command control with the aliens in command.
In
other words, Linda may not have been abducted solely by
military personnel, but by a joint command group that consists of
human military and intelligence personnel as well as aliens or alien
hybrids. The use of alien technology would aid in the actual
physical abduction while the use of a terrestrial base would aid in
having a location to take the abductee. For all we know, there may
in fact be aliens working and living on 'super secret' military
bases. Why else would security be the way it is at bases like Area
51, for example? The Chinese steal our technology without ever
setting foot on our military bases. Think about it: What is the
military and the government really hiding?
Special Thanks
I want to thank Linda for trusting
me, for sharing her journal and illustrations
with me and for answering my many questions about this and her other
experiences. She is a very strong and courageous lady and I commend
her for going public with what she knows.
My thanks also goes to Randel
Smith who was kind enough to inform me about The Institute of
Heraldry where I was able to locate much of the information related
to the significance of the military patches and emblems included
in this article.

ADDENDUM by
Linda Murphy
I have reviewed
the emails Katharina forwarded to me regarding this article, and here are my thoughts on them:
I don't think the
bird was a phoenix, dove, raven, or anything like that. The bird had
a very military feel to it like you see in some other military
patches. I remember seeing the feathers in an upward formation.
The idea of the
'ball with wings' was interesting and was not something I would have
thought of. Maybe something to put into the 'gray basket'? It
is an interesting idea that the circle and the bolts or triangles
may be alien in nature. I guess it is good to keep that in mind. The
fact that Katharina has been able to find these objects in many
other patches with their meaning indicates the evidence is pointing
more toward a military explanation, at least currently.
As far as the
meaning of the exact placement of the braid or rope, I don't know if
I would attach too much significance to that. My main focus when I
drew the patch was to show that the top length of rope or braid
started in a different location than the other one. There probably
is a significance in the asymmetric placement of these things, but
it may be coincidence that I drew the top braid right were the
eagle's shoulder is. I would place more significance in the
asymmetry of the braid rather than the exact placement of it in
regards to the objects in the patch. That is my feeling anyway. I
remember when I drew it, it was asymmetrical. -- Linda
